The US "Bring in the New Year" Sectional Tournament

On behalf of ICCF-US Tournament Organizer Tom Biedermann, I would like to make the following announcement!

Thanks,

ICCF-US Director, Jason Bokar

The US "Bring in the New Year" Sectional Tournament

The ICCF-US is hosting a 4-section national tournament. All US ICCF rated players (as of 1/1/2018) are potentially eligible to play, including for the prize money in each section. Each section will be a 15-player round robin ICCF rated event, played on the ICCF server using the full set of ICCF standard rules. Time control will be 10 moves in 50 days with doubling after 20 consecutive days without a move. Best of all, there is no fee to play!

To be selected to play (in the section appropriate for your rating), you must:

  1. send an email to SIM Tom Biedermann (bied26@gmail.com) to let him know of your interest, and do so by 12/31/17; and
  2. be one of the top rated 15 as of 1/1/2018from among all players expressing interest from your section (that is, your rating grouping). [Your 2018/1 rating will become available on the server on or about 12/10/17. You need not wait till then to write to Tom, however, as he will sort out interested players according to the 2018/1 ratings when they become known.]

Section A will consist only of the top 15 interested players from the top 50 US players in the 2018/1 ICCF rating list. The prize fund for Section A will be $300, $200, & $100 for 1st through 3rd, .

Section B will consist only of players rated below the top 50 US players in the 2018/1 rating list (currently meaning below 2375) but above 2200. The prize fund for Section B will be $200 & $100.

Section C will consist only of players rated between 2001-2200 in the 2018/1 rating list. The prize fund for Section C will be the same as for Section B.

Section D will consist only of players rated below 2001 in the 2018/1 rating list. The prize fund for Section D will be the same as for Sections B and C.

Tie-breaking systems will not be used in any section. Players with tied scores will evenly split any relevant prize money. To collect prize money, however, you must provide a personal Paypal address when your section has finished to which the money can be sent.

All sections will have an official start date of 1/28/18, with an unofficial start date on or about 1/7/18.

Register your interest, or you are not eligible to play! Remember, only the top rated 15 who register for each section by the deadline will make it into the event!
